SHEPHERD MOTHER LORRAINE BEALS

The success of the ministry at First Way of The Cross could not be possible without Shepherd Mother Lorraine Beals.  Mother Beals has held many positions in the church. She was the former President of the Missionary Department for the Metropolitan Diocese. She was also our local Missionary President at First Way of The Cross. In times past, she has held the position of the Secretary for the Metropolitan Diocese Women’s Council and Corresponding Secretary for the Women’s Council.  She is also the former Recording Secretary and Treasurer for the Metropolitan Diocese ABYPU & Sunday School Departments, just to name a few. Mother Beals now holds the title "Author" as she has published several books, titled “God Inspired Daily Intercessory Prayers” and "Devotions and Intercessory Prayers".

As a young woman, Mother Beals had aspirations to become a nurse, but instead found herself working in the secretarial field. After her professional career ended, Mother joined Bishop Beals in the daily work of the ministry.  Mother Beals is extremely proud of the First Way of The Cross Feeding and Outreach Program. When able, Mother has worked with dedicated church members 3 days a week to provide hot meals to the community. The program started in 1998, and since its inception over 5,000 meals have been provided.  Mother is a sweet and loving soul; she has been a mother figure to many women at and beyond First Way of The Cross. Mother has taught the women at First Way the message of understanding who we are in Christ, and having self-esteem. This has been very dear to Mother, and echoes her favorite scripture: Psalms 139:14, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” 

Mother has been a faithful & caring wife to Bishop Beals for the last 50 plus years. She has been a rock to her children Gerald Jr. (who was called home to be with the Lord in 2020), Katherine, Lauren, and Barbara (who was called home to be with the Lord in 1997). She is an inspiration to her daughter-in-love, Tanya. She is cherished by her grandson/son Tremaine and granddaughter-in-love, Parminder. She owns the covenant title of “The Best Grandmother Ever” as stated by her other grandchildren, Michael and Tia. She is also great grandmother to Zion and Gideon.

Determined to be used by the Lord, Shepherd Mother Lorraine Beals is committed to His service.  She is now navigating her new roles as Shepherd Mother of FWOTC and Widow.  She has also been appointed as the State Mother of the Northern Diocese of New Jersey, COOLJC.
